Are you supporting employees with caring responsibilities?

Many employees now care for an older, vulnerable family member. While this can give reassurance and support, it can also be a challenge if your employees are juggling care responsibilities with the demands of work.

This can also put a significant pressure and a negative impact on your organisation if you need to manage requests for reduced hours, increased absenteeism, or the loss of highly experienced staff from your workforce.

Take care of carers with a personal alarm

Your employees can save £40 on a personal alarm from Taking Care*

As an employer you can play a key role in supporting your employees with their caring commitments and help give them peace of mind while they balance work and look after vulnerable loved ones, with money off a personal alarm from Taking Care (part of AXA Health).

"Brilliant service, 100% recommend"

The challenge of the sandwich generation

"Peace of mind knowing if my mum falls help will be on its way, either family members or ambulance. Always very friendly staff on the phones."

Many working people find themselves in the sandwich generation; squeezed between caring for dependent children and elderly relatives at the same time. It isn’t something we plan for, but it’s a position many of us find ourselves in.

Taking Care’s personal alarms have supported over ¼ million people and their families. The alarms are easy-to-use devices with simple set-up and no hidden costs, all connected 24/7 to our caring, UK-based Emergency Resolution Team.

How does our personal alarm service work?

Your loved one simply presses the button on their pendant when they need help, any time of the day or night.

No alarm call goes unanswered and the Emergency Resolution Team will know who is calling and from where, even if they are unable to speak.

The Emergency Resolution Team will talk with them through the alarm equipment to understand what help is needed. The team can help with any emergency, including falls, if they are in distress, feel unwell or have a home emergency.

The Emergency Resolution Team will call nominated contacts, such as a neighbour or family, or the emergency services if medical assistance is needed.

How to talk to Mum or Dad about getting a personal alarm

It’s natural to worry about your parent’s safety as they get older. Whilst you know they would most likely wish to remain independent for as long as possible, you may have concerns about what they would do in the event of an accident or fall if no one was there to help them.

Caring for an elderly relative – know your carers’ rights

According to recent studies, around one-in-eight adults in the UK provide care to elderly friends, family or neighbours. If you are one of these carers, it’s crucial to understand the benefits you may be eligible to claim.

Why carers need care too

If you’re busy looking after an elderly mum or dad, you’re in good company.  But although caring is a common experience, it can feel lonely and difficult. As well as the sheer physical work, it’s emotional. And the paperwork for allowances and assessments can be bewildering.

About Taking Care's life-saving personal alarm service

Award-winning emergency resolution

We have three UK-based Emergency Resolution Centres. We aim to answer alarm calls within 30 seconds, so you can be confident of getting help quickly, any time of the day or night.

Peace of mind

Not everyone has family or friends who live nearby and can respond in an emergency, or family members may not want to rely on them. A personal alarm provides reassurance for employees and their family.

Remain active and confident

A personal alarm provides older family members with the confidence to continue doing the things they love and going to the places they enjoy.

Stay independent for longer

"A personal alarm can reduce overall hospital admissions in older adults by 50% and reduce the length of stay in hospital by almost half, from 15 days to 8 days."
